Master dissertation
Fault detectors in process control
(in portuguese)
ABSTRACT:
The problem of constructing fault detection systems for possible use as part of a fault tolerant control system is considered in this work. Initially the fault detection problem is introduced and its general principles discussed. Afterwards, three algorithms for fault detection are considered: the GLR (Generalized Likelihood Ratio), the MM (Multiple Models) and the NO (Nonsensitive Observers) methods. Computational simulations of the application of these methods to a distillation column are performed, and the results are compared and analyzed. In conclusion some final comments, conclusions as well as suggestions for future research are presented.
